Day 1 : Diani Beach / Shimba / Diani Beach
The one Day Shimba Hills safari begins with picking up from your hotels and driven to Shimba Hills National reserve (about 40km from Diani Beach). The park is is a tropical rain forest, refreshingly cool compared to the heat and humidity of Diani Beach. Shimba Hills National Reserve is a very small park and offers the last of Kenya’s coastal rainforest, waterfalls and the rare sable antelope. Other animals that can be seen on this safari include colobus monkeys, antelopes, kongoni, waterbuck, klipspringer, impala, gazelles, giraffes, buffalo and leopard, a wide species of monkeys and birds. The park has one of the highest population density of elephants. Full morning game drive in the reserve with a visit to Sheldrick falls. Go down the hill, 45 minutes gentle walk takes you to the breathtaking spectacular fall. Return to Diani for those on half-day tour. Picnic lunch in the reserve and then continuation of the safari till late afternoon. Leave the reserve by early evening heading back to Diani beach for relaxation.
